Welcome to another episode of our daily bible study. Today’s episode is titled, Do not illtreat a foreigner. you can watch the video below.
In the last episode of our daily bible study nuggets, we discussed the message titled, honoring your parents and elders.
We learnt from the book of exodus chapter 21 verse 17 that, anyone that curses their father or mother is to be put to death. From here we learned that God frowns at kids insulting or disrespecting their parents. Unfortunately, today’s generation do not heed to this command of the creator.
Honoring parents has its benefits, anyone that honors their parents will prosper as the scriptures say.
In that very episode, we also learned that honoring parents and elders is not restricted to only our earthly parents, our heavenly father deserves our respect more than our earthly parents, which is why we should honor God by keeping His commandments. If God feels bad when we do not honor our earthly parents, how much more will He feel when we fail to honor Him, God said He is a jealous God, He will never share His glory with anybody. Hence, we will understand why we should honor God, even more than we honor our earthly parents. All that God wants from us is to fear Him and do His commandments. Just as we should respect and honor our earthly parents, so should we respect and honor God by keeping His commandments, because there is great reward in doing so, just as the past episode of our daily bible study outlined.
If you have not watched that video, you can watch it after watching today’s episode.
The topic for today’s daily bible nugget is, do not illtreat foreigners.
God categorically warned the Israelites not to illtreat foreigners because they too were foreigners in Egypt. The bible is nothing but divine instruction for living. Treating strangers with care and kindness is what is demanded from the Israelites.
The Israelites lived in Egypt as strangers, they know what it feels like to be a stranger. For that, God warned them not to maltreat strangers. It is quite unfortunate to see some people illtreating foreigners in their countries.
God is totally against racism. Hating and illtreating people because they are not of same race or nationality as you are, is not acceptable by God. Learn to love people irrespective of their race or color. Today’s episode of our daily bible study, teaches us the need to shun racism and baseless hatred.
Learn to treat strangers well in your country. You never know where you may find yourself tomorrow, you might be treated the same way you treated others. remember that the seed a person sew, that they will reap. Do not illtreat people, that you may not be illtreated.
May God never allow us find ourselves in places where we will be illtreated. Amen.
