Previously in our daily bible study, we discussed the message titled, work, then rest.

In this very episode, we learned the need for one to work for as much time as they can during the week, and rest on sabbath day. On sabbath day, we also give people working for us the opportunity to refresh and prepare for the week ahead.

Sabbath is good for both the mind, body and soul. Apart from the energies we regain on sabbath day, we also get divine blessing for obeying the creator’s command. Again, having known that we should rest after work, we should not forget that, the obligation to work comes before the obligation to rest. So, if you are not working, then resting alone does not consummate the commandment, always work first, and then, rest.

A lot can be learned from the previous episode of our daily bible study. If you have not watched that video, it is in the playlist, you can watch it after watching today’s episode.

Today’s episode of our daily bible study is titled; have a good time while you can. The book of exodus chapter 23 verse 14 says; Three times a year you are to celebrate a festival to me.

This is a reminder to those of us that indulge in self-denial. If God had wanted us not to engage in any form of celebration, He would not have asked us to celebrate festivals.

In one of the episodes of our daily bible nuggets, we discussed a topic that says, celebrate your success. We tried to explain how important it is for one to take some time off and cool off.

Well, celebration, if done in moderation is not bad. There could be exceptional cases where, for some reasons some people might be required to go to the extreme of indulging in ascetism. If you know you do not belong to this group, then, nothing stops you from making out time to celebrate. If you have a family, try and make them happy, have a party at home, it’s not a crime. Take your family to the park and make your children happy. Go on vacation. Take some time off and rejuvenate your energy. Attend family celebrations and weddings.

Remember that, if God is against celebrations, he would not give a law demanding his people to celebrate.

Furthermore, at happens that, some people feel guilty celebrating, because of some doctrines.

We need to understand that the only manuscript that should guide our lives and behaviors is the bible. Whatever the bible condemns is not acceptable, and whatever the bible approves is acceptable. We only have to apply wisdom in whatever we do. When you celebrate, do not lavish money you should use for other important things. And do not spend on things you cannot afford. Always spend on things you can afford, and in moderation. Doing so is what can be considered right in the sight of God. Once again, you are encouraged to have a good time in life while you can.

May God provide for us, that we might use His provisions to serve him. Amen.
