Previously in our daily bible study, we discussed the topic that says, Have a good time in life while you can.

In that episode, we saw that in the book of exodus chapter 23 verse 14, the scripture says, three times a year you are to celebrate a festival to me.

This is God Himself giving us the instruction to celebrate before him. In other words, God wants us to have celebratory times. When you have put in effort to work and toil, you need to take some time to rest and refresh yourself. Doing so is not a crime nor a sin, it is biblical. Some people tend to live ascetic lives, where they deny themselves few or many pleasures that life offers. In as much as some people do so for some spiritual reasons, which is acceptable in some circumstances, we need to understand that, the Lord has put us on earth to enjoy it’s content, we only need to do so reasonably and with moderation.

One can drink but should not be drunk, one can eat, but should not become a glutton. One can have sexual relations, but should commit adultery.

When we have fun the right way, the name of the Lord is glorified.

If you have not watched that video, it is in the playlist, you can watch it after watching today’s episode.

In today’s episode, we will discuss the message titled, Obedience and submission to God brings blessings. The book of Exodus chapter 23 verses 20 to 22 says;

 “See, I am sending an angel ahead of you to guard you along the way and to bring you to the place I have prepared. Pay attention to him and listen to what he says. Do not rebel against him; he will not forgive your rebellion, since my Name is in him.  If you listen carefully to what he says and do all that I say, I will be an enemy to your enemies and will oppose those who oppose you.

This is one of the instructions God gave the Israelites as they were in the desert moving to the promised land. This message has a lot to teach us today.

Our stay on earth, from the moment we were born to our childhood, and to adulthood is but a journey. We do not know what the next stage of this life journey will be or how it will look like. Just as the Israelites did not know what and where their next stop will be in the desert as they were heading home. All they needed to do is trust and rely on God. Which is what is expected of us, that is, to trust and rely on God for guidance.

Consequently, God categorically told them that, He will send an angel on their way to lead them to their destination. But for them to arrive happily and blessed in that destination, they have to obey and submit to this very angel.

In this life, if you want to succeed under your master or your guardian, then you have to learn to be obedient and submissive. Learn to take instructions and carry them out. Be humble and obey. From the bible passage we read earlier, God stated what the Israelites stand to gain when they obey and are submissive to the angel, he is sending ahead of them.

There are blessings that go to those who obey God and keep his ordinances. Hence, if you want to get God’s blessings, learn to be obedient to his instructions and laws.

May God grant us the grace to obey and submit to his will and authority. Amen.
