The Masqueraders by Georgette Heyer is a historical romance novel set in the Georgian era of England.
The story revolves around the adventures of a brother and sister, Prudence and Robin Merriot, who are forced into hiding due to their involvement in the Jacobite Rising of 1745.
To escape detection, they ingeniously adopt Prudence as a man, “Peter Merriot,” and Robin as a woman, “Kate Merriot.”
The novel is a blend of romance, intrigue, and comedy, as the siblings navigate society in their disguises, encountering various challenges and misunderstandings along the way.
