Eligibility for Swansea University Excellence Scholarship

To be considered for the Swansea University Excellence Scholarship, you need to meet the following requirements;

  • You must be non-UK nationals who pay fees in your home country. If your fee status changes after the scholarship application are submitted, the University must cancel the scholarship.
  • You must have applied for and been accepted into an Undergraduate or Master’s degree program at Swansea University.
  • This scholarship is not open to students pursuing a PhD, MPhil, Masters by Research, Graduate Diploma in Law, Postgraduate Diploma, Postgraduate Certificate, or Erasmus Mundus programme.
  • Students pursuing a BSc, BA, BEng, LLB, MEng, MSci, MSc, MPharm, MBBCh, MA, LLM, or MRes degree are eligible.
  • Students progressing from ‘The College Swansea University’ and current University students are ineligible to apply for this scholarship.
  • Alumni are welcome to apply. Other terms and conditions apply to other awards available to alumni, which may result in an award not being made in full or at all.
  • You must have demonstrated academic excellence to date and be able to demonstrate what you will achieve at Swansea University in your application.
  • Applicants must be self-funded, meaning you do not receive sponsorship funding from your home country, sponsoring body, or an external third-party organization. If funding is confirmed after the scholarship is awarded, the University reserves the right to withdraw it.

Financial Award

The Swansea University Excellence Scholarship is open to students who have demonstrated academic and personal excellence. The scholarship is worth up to £6000 for undergrad studies and £4000 for postgrad studies.

Scholarships can only be used to offset tuition fees and cannot be used for anything else. The scholarship will be applied to the academic year specified in the offer letter’s course fees. If a course offer is withdrawn, you must reapply for the scholarship, unless there are exceptional circumstances that can be confirmed by the University. In addition to the course start date referral, you must request a scholarship deferral. It will not happen automatically. At the time of enrollment, successful candidates will be charged a tuition fee. You must accept the scholarship, accept an offer of a course place, and pay the deposit.

Successful undergraduate applicants who receive the maximum (£4000) International Excellence Scholarship in their first year and achieve 70% or higher will be eligible for an additional £2,000 in year two.
