1. Consuelo W. Gosnell Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is offered by the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) to MSW candidates who want to work with the Spanish / Latino or American Indian / Alaska Native populations. Members of the NASW who have a GPA of at least 3.0 and want to enrol in a recognized MSW program may apply.
2. Verne LaMarr Lyons Scholarship
The Verne LaMarr Lyons Memorial Scholarship is given to Master of Social Work candidates who have an interest in or experience with health/mental health practice and a commitment to working in African American communities. Previous recipients are now employed in hospitals, medical clinics, and social service agencies that provide treatment and specialized services to African American clients, while others have moved into broader leadership positions.
3. SeniorCare.com Aging Matters Scholarship
SeniorCare.com is committed to assisting seniors and their families in their search for a better way of life. Ageing has an impact on everyone, and as the ageing population grows over the next 30 years, SeniorCare.com wants to raise awareness about the major issues faced. An annual college scholarship will be given to the person who best demonstrates to us why “Aging Matters” to them. This scholarship is open to students who are currently caring for an ageing loved one, work in the senior community, or plan to pursue a career that has an impact on the elderly population.
4. The Truman Foundation Scholarship
The Truman Foundation identifies and rewards aspiring leaders at a critical juncture in their development – when they are college juniors – for their commitment to careers in public service. Despite their accomplishments, many remain largely untested. However, when you consider what the more than 3,000 Truman Scholars have accomplished, the risk-taking is paying off.
5. National Association of Junior Assistant Scholarships
Since its inception in 1962, the NAJA Graduate Scholarship Program has awarded over 579 scholarships totaling $1,437,504 for graduate studies in fields dealing with the special needs of children and youth.
The Robbins family established the Betty W. Robbins Endowed Scholarship in 1995 in memory of Betty Robbins of Ruston, Louisiana. Betty was the Director of Region V, First Vice-President, and President of the National Association of Junior Auxiliaries (1992-93). This Scholarship Program is supported by contributions from the National Association, Junior Auxiliary Chapters, the Robbins family, memorials, and honorary gifts from individuals and groups.
6. Melanie Foundation Scholarship
The Melanie Foundation was founded in 2006 to honor Melanie Merola O’Donnell’s life and legacy, with the goal of increasing support for mental health issues. Melanie lived a life of service, dedicating her career to alleviating the suffering caused by mental illness. Melanie died at the age of 33, while pursuing her doctorate in psychology. Her family and friends then worked together to establish The Melanie Foundation, with the initial goal of providing scholarships to people with the best chance of carrying on Melanie’s legacy – graduate students in a mental health field. The Saratoga Palio, the Melanie Foundation’s most significant fundraiser, was a signature event in Saratoga each fall from 2006 to 2020. Its success enabled The Melanie Foundation to grow.
7. Indian Health Service (IHS) Health Professions Scholarship
The Indian Health Service (IHS) Health Professions Scholarship is available to qualified American Indian and Alaska Native undergraduate and graduate students. You must be a member of a federally recognized Tribe and enrolled in an eligible health profession degree program to be eligible for this benefit program. Scholarship recipients agree to fulfill a service commitment in full-time clinical practice upon completion of their academic or post-graduate clinical training in exchange for financial aid.
8. National Association of Black Social Workers Scholarships
Full-time student members enrolled in a recognized social work program are eligible for a variety of benefits from the National Association of Black Social Workers (NABSW). Applicants must be African Americans with a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
9. Senior Planning Social Work & Eldercare Award
Senior Planning believes in giving back to the community. It has chosen to assist in preparing the next generation of medical social workers to provide the care that American seniors will require. Senior Planning will make between one and five awards at the end of each application period, depending on the number of deserving applicants and the amount of funds available.
10. Michael Moody Fitness Scholarship
Current high school seniors, undergraduate or graduate students planning to enroll full-time in a two-year or four-year accredited college or university in the United States. Students pursuing careers in health, wellness, or fitness are eligible for this scholarship.
