Children are a gift from God, an incredible blessing. Every day, we may find ourselves loving and caring for our children, nurturing, teaching, training, assisting, leading, equipping, encouraging, protecting, and so much more.
We waste precious hours just going through the motions of life, helping with homework, and driving them to activities. We spend money on sports, lessons, and various classes to help them grow and become the best that they can be, giving them opportunities to do what they love in this world. But, in the midst of our hectic schedules, we must ask ourselves: Are we praying for our children?
Prayer is necessary for our children and families in order to remain alert, aware, and discernible of God’s voice, as well as to stand against the enemy’s attacks in our lives. We must never underestimate the power of speaking blessings and truth over their lives. Prayer is effective, and his words are true.
Prayer + God’s Word = Power – the means for Him to perform miracles. Let us begin asking God for his protection and blessings right now.
I’m referring to praying specific, powerful, promise-filled, and hopeful prayers for our children. Are we praying for God’s powerful Word and promises over our children’s lives? I’m becoming more conscious of the need to pray more.
Today, there is a battle for our families, and the enemy would do anything to destroy everything we hold dear in this life. He’s astute and ruthless, as well as deceitful and sly. He’ll strike when we’re not looking and do everything he can to persuade our children to join him. Allow him to triumph.

Children face numerous challenges and decisions. Children make moral decisions at a young age, choosing to be kind and loving while resisting the temptation to sin. Parents can help their children fight by praying for them.
Parents must pray for their children because they require your prayers. Children of all ages are facing the enemy’s schemes; they are dealing with peer and school pressures; and they are determining their sense of faith and how they will follow Jesus. Children’s prayers are essential as they navigate life and faith. Prayer can help parents fight spiritual battles for their children.

Protect my children, Heavenly Father, from the negative pressures placed on them by their peers. Please give them the strength to resist the temptation to compromise who they are in order to be liked. Help my child understand that they are not called to conform to the world’s patterns. Instill in them the desire to be transformed by Your Word. Please give them the confidence to say no when they need to influence others positively. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
Prayer for a Child’s Faith
Thank you, God. Create a pure heart in my child and a steadfast spirit within them (Psalm 51:10). Assist my child in knowing your Word and growing in faith daily. Thank You that Your word says that neither death nor life, angels nor demons, the present nor the future, powers, height, depth, or anything else in all creation will be able to separate my child from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Amen.
Prayer for Our Children to Find Their Identity in Christ
Dear Jesus, please teach my children that we are all born sinners, separated from God because of our evil hearts. However, from a young age, assist them in grasping the life-changing concept that he does not have to live as a sinner under that condemnation.
Teach my children that they can accept a new, beautiful identity that is called “good,” not because of what they have done or how they look, but because they are secure in who YOU say they are: treasured, delightful, known, and protected. Allow our children to discover these deeper truths about who You believe they are and base every decision they make on that sure foundation, rather than placing their self-worth in accomplishments. In the name of Jesus, amen.
Prayer for Children’s Wisdom
Lord, I pray that my child will grow up with an eternal perspective, wisdom, and purpose that comes from You, not from the earth. Allow my child to see life—and every challenge—through Your eyes, eager and unafraid to share the good news of Jesus with others wherever he goes. I pray that they will focus on things above rather than on what is happening here and that they will be rooted and grounded in Your love. I pray that my child will come to understand the depth of Your love for them—that it will outweigh all of the knowledge they will gain in school. I pray that they are filled with You from morning to night.

Greetings, Lord Jesus. Thank you for all of the precious children in the world. We know how much they mean to you. We hope you will join us in doing everything we can to protect them and give them the best possible start in life. Lord, we bring you all of the wonderful work being done to lift children out of poverty, and we ask that you bless every pair of hands that works for you. In Jesus’ name, Amen, increase and bless their efforts.

Lord, Lord, you love my child more than I do, and I entrust their life to you. I know you use everything for the good of those who love You. Please give my child the stamina to face the upcoming trials and struggles, as well as the faith to persevere in the face of adversity. As they live a life of faith in You, help them to hear Your voice, feel Your presence, and influence the faith of others. I pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.
