Night Prayer for Sleep: When it’s time to go to bed at the end of the day, there’s nothing better we can do than give it all to God. To put our worries and concerns aside. To thank him for his blessings and his constant presence throughout the day. To acknowledge the ways he has led us, protected our families, and provided for our needs. And, while we often know this to be true, it can be difficult to truly let go. Or we forget to thank him for the constant presence he has in our lives.
We take our worries and stress to bed with us. We cling to our wounds and hurt feelings. We struggle for sleep but can’t seem to stop thinking about to-do lists, schedules, and what we still need to do for tomorrow. There is no better place to surrender and let God be God than at bedtime.

Some Days are Simply Difficult
We’re exhausted. Worn. I’m sick of fighting. Suffering from defeated thoughts. We are all vulnerable. And it’s not always just one big thing, but a slew of smaller battles that can deplete us. Parenting, marriage, work, relationships, fears, worries about the future, loss, discouragement, illness, and money problems can all wear us down. And the enemy appears to fight the hardest when he knows we’re already exhausted.
Only God’s very presence and the truth of his word can bring deep peace to our souls. The peace he provides is the kind of peace that the world cannot provide, the kind of peace that makes no sense even to our own minds. When we pray before going to bed, we create space for God’s words of peace to speak over us.
Your Future is Secure and Guaranteed
Be reassured right now, at this late hour, that you are never alone, that he knows your path, and that he has a plan. He’s right there with you now and in all your futures. You don’t have to go back in time because he’s already covered it. You no longer live there. And it is because of him that your future is secure and certain. You can rest assured, knowing and believing that he has everything in his hands.
Bring your problems to him. May God remove all anxiety-related burdens from your shoulders. May he replace your doubt with faith where you have it. May he instill calm where you’ve been filled with racing thoughts.

Jesus, grant us sleep this night and a time of relaxation. Please pardon us for our actions today that was unworthy of you. We appreciate your deep love for us and your thorough understanding of who we are. Every day, we are in need of your assistance, and we are grateful for the courage you share with us and the assurance that everything is possible with you. Bless our family, protect our house, and keep us safe all night. As you promised, may your angels protect and watch over us.
You have said that we are just like sheep. And that you shepherd us by guiding us and watching over us. You call us by our names and treat us with respect and compassion. You support our recovery when we’re injured. Jesus, thank you for taking good care of us and providing [mom/dad/parents/foster parents/pastors] to assist. We are grateful for the Bible and the lessons it teaches us about life. Bless those who live in our world and make them aware of your love for them. We are grateful for all the instructors, physicians, firefighters, police officers, and other helpful individuals in our lives.
