Hello; good people of God. Welcome to another episode of our daily bible study. today’s topic is; “Mastery, is a function of practice.” the video is below.
In the previous episode of our daily bible study, we discussed the topic that says, God is merciful, emulate Him. There is no doubt about that. God is always merciful. Even when we do not deserve His mercy, He shows us unmerited favor. We saw this in the last episode of our daily bible study.
In that episode, we saw that, in the plague of hail, God told Moses to tell the Egyptians to bring all their livestock and everything they have in the field to a place of shelter; because the hail was going to destroy everything that it meets outside. Despite the fact that the Egyptians have challenged God and God was determined to show the Egyptians His divine power, God still had pity on them. He showed them mercy even when they do not deserve it.
If you have not watched that episode of our daily bible study, the video is in the playlist. You can watch it after watching today’s episode.
In today’s episode, we will discuss the topic that says, mastery is a function of practice.
There is this saying that says, practice makes perfection. Or, practice makes it perfect. The interpretation of this saying is very simple. If you want to become very good at whatever you do, then do it again and again and again.
If you have been following us in this daily bible study, as we are studying the book of Exodus, you will remember that, at the beginning of Moses’ call, Moses was scared of talking to Pharaoh. He reminded God he stammers. He even told God to send someone else. Moses said, who am I to go unto Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt? We have made a video on that, titled, challenges are on the way, but keep moving. Moses’ fear of confronting Pharaoh caused God to make Aaron his spokesperson.
However, as Moses confronted Pharaoh from time to time, all his fear died. He felt no fear anymore. As he continued confronting Pharaoh, he developed self esteem and confidence. At a point, Moses started talking to pharaoh regardless of pharaoh’s status as the king of Egypt. At a point, we no longer hear about him stammering.
Meanwhile, let us not forget that at the beginning of Moses’ encounter with Pharaoh, he felt uncomfortable; in Exodus chapter 5 verse 22, Moses cried to the Lord in frustration about the treatment Pharaoh subjected the Israelites, when he refused to give them straw to make bricks. But, after God started using Moses to perform miracles in Egypt, Moses’ tone of prayer changed. This is because, Moses is now used to the game. This is what practice results to.
Sometimes in life, you will be faced with a challenge that looks insurmountable. Maybe, you are learning a skill that looks very difficult, or you have embarked on a task that looks very hard to tackle. At the beginning, you will feel like there is no way out. But, after you have practiced and practiced and practiced, you will discover that, the task is not really as difficult as you initially thought. The key to mastery is practice. No matter how challenging a task is, as long as you keep practicing it, little by little, it will not take long before you become perfect in it.
So, today, don’t be afraid of taking that contract or job. Don’t be afraid of learning that skill, just start, once you’ve started, the rest will be history. Do not let baseless fear steal your adventure and fun. Do not let fear make you lose that job and money or skill. Face your fear and practice, with time you will master it.
May God grant us the courage to take the bold step in confronting our fears, and learn to practice, that we may become very good at all we do. Amen.
