In the previous episode, we discussed a message titled; avoid trouble, but be prepared to tackle it.

We learned in this last episode of our daily bible study that, in order to avoid the Israelites fighting with the Philistines along the way, God prevented the Israelites from taking the road through the land of the Philistines as they were moving out of Egypt to the land of Canaan.

However, He also made sure the Israelites were fully armed and prepared for battle.

From here, we learned that, even though God didn’t want the Israelites to fight as they newly got their freedom, He saw to it that they were prepared for battle in case it comes. From that episode, we learned that, we should endeavor to always stay away from trouble. But at the same time, we should be prepared to tackle troubles and problems when they come.

If you have not watched that video of the previous episode of our daily bible study, you can search for it in the playlist. It is titled, avoid trouble, but be prepared to tackle it.

In today’s episode of our daily bible study, we will discuss the topic that says; be prepared before embarking on any journey.

The book of Exodus chapter 13 verse 21 says, by day, the Lord went ahead of them in a pillar of cloud to guide them on their way, and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so they could travel by day or night. Verse 22 says, neither the pillar of cloud by day nor the pillar of fire by night left its place in front of the people.

As God brought the Israelites from Egypt, He made them travel by day and night as they left Egypt. In order to make sure that they keep travelling by day and night, God provided them the pillar of cloud to guide them by day and a pillar of fire to guide and show them light in the night. God was determined to see that they travel both day and night, and He provided them light and direction to make the journey successful. God actually prepared for their journey.

You do not go on any critical mission or journey in life unprepared. Unfortunately, that is what some people do.

Do not start a business and employ people, when you know that there is no money to pay them. Do not start a project when you do not have reasonable arrangement on how to finish it. Doing so will lead to waste of resources and valuable time.

This very portion of the bible teaches us to get prepared before embarking on any journey.  God had already put plans in place to take care of all the needs of the Israelites that may come up on the way.

Child of God, learn to plan ahead of time, anticipate and plan ahead. Do not jump into a project unprepared and unplanned, because doing so will amount to unnecessary waste of energy and other resources.

Do not act on impulse. When an idea comes up, do not jump into action, allow the idea to dilute, carryout your feasibility analysis, check your strengths and weaknesses, check the threats and opportunities associated with the project you want to embark on, then determine whether you should take action or not.

Doing so will give you a better advantage at succeeding in the mission.

Therefore, always be prepared before embarking on any mission or journey.

May the good Lord give us the resources that will enable us accomplish our lives’ missions. Amen.
