Previously in our daily bible study, we discussed the message titled, impatience is dangerous and destructive.

We learned that, it was impatience that made the Israelites in the desert to abandon God and made for themselves a golden calf to worship.

When Moses ,their leader went up the mountain to receive the commandments, they waited for him, but then run out of patience. They thought Moses was dead, or had abandoned them. Out of impatience, they prepared to make for themselves a leader that will take them back to Egypt. At the same time, they coerced Aaron to make them a golden calf. The sin of the golden calf was a very terrible sin the Israelites committed in the desert. All of these happened just because of impatience. If they had waited for a week more, Moses would have come back, but the didn’t wait, and their impatience ended in tears.

Impatience is a very destructive and dangerous attitude. Learn to be patient and you will live to enjoy the benefits.

In today’s episode, we will discuss the message titled, a gentle response turns away anger.

After the Israelites committed the golden calf debacle, God called Moses on the mountain and told him that the Israelites whom he brought out of Egypt have made for themselves a golden calf. God told Moses to step aside, so he can destroy the Israelites in a moment.

Hearing this, Moses immediately pleaded with God. Exodus chapter 32 verses 11 to 13 says, But Moses sought the favor of the Lord his God. “Lord,” he said, “why should your anger burn against your people, whom you brought out of Egypt with great power and a mighty hand? Why should the Egyptians say, ‘It was with evil intent that he brought them out, to kill them in the mountains and to wipe them off the face of the earth’? Turn from your fierce anger; relent and do not bring disaster on your people.  Remember your servants Abraham, Isaac and Israel, to whom you swore by your own self: ‘I will make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and I will give your descendants all this land I promised them, and it will be their inheritance forever.’

After making this plea, verse 14 of exodus 32 says; Then the Lord relented and did not bring on his people the disaster he had threatened.

This is the power of soft and gentle response. No matter the situation, if we apply a soft and gentle approach, especially a gentle verbal approach, worsened situations can be saved.

Learn to respond to heated situations with soft and gentle verbal response like Moses did. Doing so, has the power to turn doom to salvation. Learn to be like Moses and you will save lives and preserve posterity.

May God give us the wisdom and calmness like He gave unto Moses. Amen.
