When Joseph met with his father Jacob prior to his death, Jacob told Joseph his intentions of adopting Joseph’s two sons as his own sons. He said: Now, the two sons born to you in Egypt before I came to you here will be reckoned as mine, just as Reuben and Simeon are mine. Genesis 48: 5. After telling this to Joseph, he then asked Joseph who are these boys with you? Joseph replied; they are the sons God has given me here, then Jacob said, bring them that I may bless them.
We will understand as it was written in the scriptures that at that time, Jacob’s eyes were weak because of old age, hence, he couldn’t see clearly. Genesis 48: 10. Jacob never knew that the boys he was adopting were standing right there with him. Immediately he realized that the boys he spoke about were in the room, he blessed them. The sons of Joseph were at the right place at the right time.
